How Atoms Do Quantum Computation and Simulation
Prof. Xu presented her 'Inaugural Lecture' on 27th March 2024.
On March 27, 2024, Professor Xu delivered her inaugural lecture in the main auditorium of the ETH Zurich main building.
In this lecture, besides showing how atoms can be utilized for quantum computation and simulation, Prof. Xu also outlined her vision for advancing towards fault-tolerant quantum computers. This vision involves the combination of individual atoms as high-quality qubits and atomic ensembles as helpful ancillaries. Two examples were highlighted: the potential for rapid quantum syndrome detection within a single step, and a method for scaling the number of qubits beyond 10k through quantum optic links.
Following the lecture, a lovely aperitif was served, and we enjoyed both the talk and the delicious food.
