Our Valuable Experience at the 2023 Quantum Center General Meeting

Last week, our team attended the 2023 Quantum Center General Meeting in Schwägalp. Amidst the picturesque scenery of the Säntis Hotel in Schwägalp, we immersed ourselves in a world of quantum intrigue and innovation.

Prof. Wenchao Xu gave an invited talk, reviewing the progress of quantum computation and simulation with platforms based on neutral atom arrays, and sharing our EQE group’s ongoing effort on making a dual-type dual-element array. Many attendees enjoyed her talk, and get a better idea on how to use Rydberg atoms for implementing quantum technologies. Our postdoc, Franklin Vivanco, presented his work on a "Dual-type Dual-element Array for Quantum Computation and Simulation".

Our visiting student Fangde Liu, and master student Zhanchuan Zhang, both gave a poster presentation. Fangde shared his previous work on "Atomic Bose-Einstein Condensate in Twisted-Bilayer Optical Lattices". Zhuanchuan’s poster is about "New Scheme for Quantum Operation with Dual-type Atom Array", which introduces several new schemes for performing quantum gate operation and quantum measurement.

Our first-year PhD students, Tao Chen and Zihua (Daniel) Wang, also participated in this general meeting. They enjoyed their discussion with other groups!

More than just a conference, this gathering represented a great opportunity for us to connect with peers and to enrich our understanding of quantum research. The view of the mountain is also gorgeous. On the top of Santis, we had a lovely conference dinner, and saw a lovely sunset. We're already looking forward to the next meeting.
